The Pololu Mini Maestro 18-Channel USB Servo Controller (Partial Kit) is a sophisticated device designed to enhance the performance of serial servo controllers. It features a native USB interface and internal scripting control, making it ideal for high-precision applications such as robotics and animatronics. This compact controller offers a resolution of 0.25μs with built-in speed and acceleration control, and supports pulse rates up to 333 Hz, ensuring smooth and seamless movements.
This versatile controller can be configured for various functions, including servo outputs for radio control servos or electronic speed controls, digital outputs, and analog/digital inputs. It supports three control methods: USB for direct computer connection, TTL serial for embedded systems, and internal scripting for standalone applications. The device's high-resolution servo pulses, with jitter less than 200 ns, make it suitable for demanding applications.
The Mini Maestro includes a free configuration and control program for Windows and Linux, facilitating easy configuration and testing over USB. It allows users to create sequences of servo movements and write scripts stored in the controller's 8 KB internal memory, capable of storing up to approximately 3000 servo positions. This feature enables the creation of self-contained animatronic displays that respond to external stimuli.
The partial kit version includes header pins that are not soldered, allowing for customization with different connectors or direct wire soldering for compact installations. A USB A to mini-B cable is required for computer connection.
